If we were all classic American muscle car enthusiasts, we would have a common understanding about what each year and model is worth. Not so with the classic 900, at least not yet. There just isn’t a market to support mint condition 900’s being worth any more then maybe a little over KBB, or in the case of a truly rare (and mint) model maybe into the five figure range.
I don’t see evidence of appreciation for these cars. I actually see the opposite. 6 or 7 years ago, a CE convert in any shape at all would cost well over $10k, now you can get a good one for much less. These cars just don’t have much value outside a very distinct group of people. It’s just not the same as the more established and traditional collector cars.
In this case, I just see someone (seller of the white convert) with very questionable judgment exercising their right to ask whatever they want. I don’t think it’s an indicator of a trend at all.
