Car is an '86 SPG, slightly modded APC, 3.0 FPR, 2 1/2 in. cat back exhaust, new plugs/wires/cap/rotor/coil/ within 10K miles, fluids are all fresh, new vacuum lines, &Bosch BOV. It has later style ic pipes &an open air filter.
A few days ago I noticed the car would take a long time to warm up in the morning (temp gauge barely went into green), The heater was blowing cold air at me as well, &when I would drive, the temp gauge would drop way down to cold, Around the same time, my boost got funky, in gears 1-2-3 I could get pretty good boost, (Not as good as normal though) & then in 4th &5th only go halfway into yellow most of the time, sometimes just hit red then back off...kinda weird.
Before this happened, boost was excellent in every gear, I could easily get 1/4 into red &maintain it.
Since the heater wasn't working, and it wasn't warming up well, I pulled out the old t-stat (it was in deed broken) &installed a new one, cured the cold morning warm up &cold heater problem, as I suspected it would.
The boost problem is still there, I looked everything over...plumbing is all on correctly as are all the vac. lines, I added some chevron techron to the fuel &topped the gas off, I found that one of turbo elbow nuts were loose, and it's in a really tight spot, I haven't tried tightening it yet, but I am hoping that once I do, my boost will come back to where it should be?...could I be loosing pressure enough to hurt my boost that much?
any info appreciated! TIA
