I did this repair years ago and it has held up great. The key is the "Tabs" break and leave you with a half circle (ie. won't hold screw). You need something to keep the dash in. I used plastic straws and epoxied them to the fascia. I also added extra epoxy behind the straw where they attached to the fascia to provided extra strength/support. (Same as the wire connector theory). However I just used some straws I had at home and they were too large in diameter.
So, although it works and holds just fine, there is some play due to the size of the straws I used. Try to use some straws that fit the screws for best results. I did this repair about 6 years ago, and all is still fine with the repair except for the little play due to the straw size.
