First, the BFG Traction T/A has UTOQ ratings from 400 to 620. Supposedly a 100 rating is 30K miles but I don't believe it. If your wife is only getting 30K from a 50K rating (where did the 50k come from...BFG warranty?) howzat? All four tires, tires rotated every 10K? Or just the front drive tires.
Historically I've gotten roughly 40K from just the front tires alone on my 900Turbos. Running everything from the OEM stock Pirelli P600, P6's, Michelin MXV4's, etc. Used to just put the rears on the front every 40K and new tires on the rear....lately I rotate (at least with snows going on and off) and it still seems to run about 40K miles.

You can get long life with tires...there are or used to be 80K Michelin warranty tires and you can get 40K guaranteed Michelin MXV4 tires from Costco if that's what you really want...at least they're guaranteed 40K or prorata replacement....fixes your cost per mile and Costco has free balancing and tire rotation so at least you're looking at the tires every 5000 miles which is more than 95% of the people who drive do. But you won't get good/high performance with high mileage tires...these tires are HARD and slippery in the wet. You get what you pay for for the most part in tires...if you want great handling go with Michelin Pilot Sports or perhaps tire rack's best seller Kumho Ecsta ASX...still a 400 UTOQ rating. I try for the AAA wet traction these days...it does rain in the DC area and when it does even after 24 hours of rain it's still slippery. All the mileage in the world on your tires won't help if SO piles it up due to slippery tires.
