is the tightness of double V-belts. Sometimes belts get loose and don't charge when headlights are lit at low rpm. Rotted alternator mounting rubber bushings can cause belt slippage too. Usually get a lot of squealing at idle when belts are too loose. Also can pull alternator brush/regulator assembly to check that brush extensions are not less than 5 mm (0.2 inches). Too deep a groove on the alternator slip rings will result in no more copper on bottom of grooves and little or no charging until alternator is replaced. Also my charging voltage at 900 rpm is 14.1 V and 13.8 V with low beam headlights on.
