oil on alternator belts - where is it coming from ?

Just noticed that the alternator/water pump belt closest to the engine in my 94 turbo convertible has a thin coating of oil. Closer inspection also found oil on the bracket for the AC compressor and the adjustment screw for the alternator.
Any usual culprits for where this could be coming from? Those belts cover a pretty big distance, so I imagine maybe a little is spraying out from somewhere, and they're carrying it all around. Oil level still reads full.
Thanks for any suggestions!
