I see that all the time on the right driver and sometimes on the left.
That's one of the reasons why the driver runs out of grease even when the boot is ok.
The grease is heated up and the rotation slings it out through the tiny breached between driver and shell.
The shell is pressed on there tight from the beginning but loosens up with age and heat exposure from the header pipe.
You can certainly try with silicone and such to seal it up but don't have too high hopes of success.
You can also fill the driver with a more heat resistant and thicker grease that will stay in there for longer time.
