The dashpot is a wear and tear item and it doesn't last that many years and the price is going up and up and is now $69.00

It helps though in stabilizing the idle since the ECU and AIC is not working that great in harmony in these early versions of the LH system.

When releasing the accelerator, the dashpot catches the throttle arm and let it down gently the last distance before closing the TPS idle switch and give the ECU a chance to catch up and compensate with the AIC.
