Thanks for the all the help so far! To answer some of the questions y'all have asked:
--The steering rack does leak a little, so both it and the fluid could be contributing to the problem
--It does not pull to either side at all, whether accelerating or decelerating
--It is much worse when cold, I actually have to put a little muscle (not a lot, but there's some effort) into straightening the wheel when its cold. Mind you, I'm talking 0 degrees F
--Manual Transaxle
--76,000 miles (yep!)
--ball joints COULD be suspect... there is a faint rattle in the left front over bumps

So... I'm definitely saving up for a rack replacement (though my mechanic says he can prolong it by putting something in that will swell the seals, but I plan to keep this car a long time so I don't know if I want to take shortcuts) because of the leak. I'll try changing the fluid as has been suggested and see what that does. The fact that it doesn't pull at all to the side even under heavy acceleration is actually what made me wonder if this is just how it is. Maybe the engineers were so avid against torque-steer that they forgot to give it enough caster. I'm intrigued by the custom alignment thing... tomorrow afternoon I'll surf around and see what I can find on that.

And by the way, thanks y'all Saabnet rules!!! I'll be a member soon as soon as my cash flow becomes positive again after the purchase of my first home and my first saab! :-)
