Thanks for the suggestions.

However, forgive my ignorance, but isn't the reflective backing integrated into the headlamp? (These are the old style - $12 Halogens, Wagner in this case.) Or can the metal "cup" behind the light itself fade? If not, wouldn't the new headlamp fix the problem (which it didn't)?

btw, all the slots and wiring on the receiving connector that the light plugs into look clean and intact.

I plan to take another look at it this afternoon.
