If you've done a head gasket, this is a walk in your sleep. You can even do it inside if your back is tolerant.
Be sure the cylinder is still smooth. Rebuilding an out-of-round or burred cylinder is a waste of time.
You need some snap ring pliers and the six-dollar rebuild kit. The spring comes in the kit. Also, find something/someone to squeeze off or disconnect and plug the supply line and you're good to go.
