...are a couple of plastic two-point contacts. A single nut holds each one of these against the flexible printed circuit.

This was a corrosion point on my 1989 900S. To clean it, I removed the nuts, used a pencil eraser to shine up all the contact points (on the plastic pieces and the flexible circuit) and reassembled.

I also used the eraser trick on all the contact points on the two main connectors that Nashvegas mentioned.

Somewhere in there, all that tlc cured a similar intermittent fuel/temp needle problem. Good luck.
