This concerns the accelerator cable - mine, on my 92 900s (I have two), busted, that is the braided cable broke. I replaced it with a bicylce cable thinking myself very clever. I made a positive connection with the clip on the end of the beaded cable inside the dash and used a couple of sleeves to connect the bicycle cable to the fitting for the control lever in the engine compartment. It worked great for a few days though as soon as I turned over the car to my wife (she hates it) it seemed to break. Thing is, everything I did is intact, my bike cable is still clipped to the beaded cable, and sometimes everything works. It almost seems like their is some kind of clutch on the pedal to grab the beaded cable which only works part of the time. Can anyone enlighten me - does the Saab cable assembly incorporate all the hardware to fix these gremlins. I'm on thin ice with this car and I have to fix it soon or the pressure to sell it is going to make me do something I might regret! Thanks.
