AMM? Posted by Twells [Email] (#1632) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Twells) on Mon, 9 Apr 2007 20:55:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi,
I have an 85 900T Auto with 155K miles. I have replaced all the vacuum hoses, fuel regulator, 02sensor, fuel filter, ignition wires, plugs, cap & rotor. I checked the temperature sensor according to the Bentley and the AMM. I have two problems. I smell gas when I accelerate at anything over a light throttle and the car idles erratically upon start up as if the AMM is bad. AMM checks out according to the Bentley and if I keep the idle up to about 2,000 rpm for the first few minutes, I get no fluxuation, but otherwise I get a rapidly fluctating idle between 3000-500 rpm for the first few minutes after a cold start. Warm start is fine and car runs smooothly going down the road. I purchased a rebuilt AMM from one of the sponsors and it did not change the gas smell nor the cold start idling problem. Once it warms up for a few minutes, the idle is normal. The gas smell is less when the engine is cold or the ambient temperature is cold. I'm guessing possibly a fuel rail/injector o-ring issue and perhaps a bad rebuilt AMM (even though it checks out according to Bentley). Other thoughts greatly appreciated.
