I asked the seller numerous times to email me a photo of the DOT door sill tag showing the VIN# and also the Paint Code tag. He hasn't done so. Ignored my request in fact....
FWIW.. there is NO WAY that Saab would have produced that interior from the factory. They would have promoted the Griffen logo - not the old airplane logo...and besides...the interior is on par design-wise with modern day Honda and Scion ricers...not vehicles of the late 80's/early 90's. And besides...with a "brand investment like that, the car would have been shown to the press, displayed at auto shows, etc. Someone would remember it and have photos of it.
Also - quite telling is that the car in the brochure has the darker argent wheel centers - not the silvery Aeros, the front spoiler is stock in the photos and not on the car for sale...and if you study the brochure closely you can see that the rear wheel is CENTERED in the wheel well on the brochure car. No so on the car for sale. the eBay photos were more telling in this regard than the one's listed in his classified ad.
So...what's it mean? I don't know. It could be an "89 Talladega" .. but I doubt it. Model production years start long before the calendar year. There is a black SPG with Aero wheels shown in that brochure too.
Call me a skeptic...but I say probable repaint. a good one. .. but without paint code evidence...and a VIN trace with a build sheet, there's no way this is "the brochure car" - aftermarket interior or not. I would want o see photos from inside the doors, the undercarriage, under the carpet, behind headliner etc before I agreed otherwise.
