What has the shop that did the install said about the problem? Did they rebuild the tranny 'in house'? If so, are they qualified? If they sourced the tranny from an independent rebuilder, find out who & then search the BB for problems with that facility...there have been posts relating to this.
Does the shop have experience w/Saabs? Did they put in a new clutch? If so was it an OEM/Sachs part or something from "Car Quest" or another mystery brand? Was it a kit that may or may not have included a new clutch shaft/spigot bearing? Is pedal travel & clutch engagement normal? Is the release bearing noisy? Is the master cyl. ok? Slave? Why didn't they bleed it? Is the linkage adjusted properly? What does the invoice for the work indicate? If they don't have the proper tools & forced the pressure plate into position w/a crowbar, they may have done some damage.
What kind of lube did they put in? BG Syncro Shift or Redline MTL is best (there are other good FWD transaxle lubes which don't immediately come to mind), reg. ol' 10w/30 is 'ok'. If 75w gear oil was used, it won't work well at all without a special additive. Check the oil level - 91' & up have a short dipstick attached to the back of the bolt where the long dipstick tube would be on older models.
The only way this would become your responsibility is if you told the shop to use your old clutch after they advised against it or you sourced the tranny...& as long as it's from a reputable rebuilder (Like Erikson Turbos in CT) there should be no problem there. If the job cost you $2500 to $3000 you should expect a perfectly running & properly shifting vehicle...if not, well you get what you pay for. Regardless, I'd hot foot it back to the installer & flatly state that you aren't happy. ~ Good luck.
