Get clear or black silicone in a tube. Get some thick thread. Drop the top so it is 1 foot to 18 inches open and support it that way. Use the thread to loosely hold the tear together. Cut some convertible top material so that the edges are 1 inch away from the tear at all points. That will give you about a 4 inch by 2 inch rectangle. Slightly round the corners. Tape off an area that corresponds to the rectangle. Apply silicon to the taped off area AND to the underside of the rectangle. Let them both get tacky. Place one on the other. If you have strong magnets, use them to hold everything together for 24 hours. If not, try to stack some cardboard boxes and place a large book on top for weight. That will hold the silicon sandwich together overnight. remove the tape after 1-2 hours. It makes a clean edge.
