Seized engine - Now what? Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] (#32) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Justin VanAbrahams) on Thu, 7 Jun 2007 15:50:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've got a 1990 900T with a seized engine... I haven't really gotten into it and I never met the person who was there when it happened, but my theory is that with a broken odometer, someone went "really long" between oil changes and that was that. There is no obvious other problem.
Anyway, my choice now is to pick up a low mileage used engine from the dismantlers, or fix the seized engine. Has anyone been through this? Any rough estimates what the cost would be to rebuild? I'm assuming new bottom end bearings and rings, and that the pistons and crank can be salvaged.
This is one part of a Saab I've never had to delve into before... all comments are appreciated...
Thanks!
