first , are you in Spain?
second, make sure the Air Mass Meter is correctly connected to the electrical cord attaching to it. The Air Mass Meter is a Bosch part that looks like a black can, and it connects to the air filter box. just look to see that the connection is tight.
the other thing is you could have a major vacuum leak. there are many small diameter hoses running around the top of the engine. they all have to be connected correctly, and not worn or cracked. On an 89 there are sure to be some hoses which are dried out and cracked due to age and constant exposure to heating/cooling cycle.
When doing oil changes its not uncommon for hoses to get disconnected from the intake manifold (just above the air filter) where many of these hoses run to.

with the engine running and your head above the engine you may hear hissing or sucking sounds as the engine will be sucking air thru an opening due to a cracked hose or disconnection. have someone sit in the car and keep a foot on the gas pedal to keep the engine running while you listen for the hissing sound.
