Advice on radio replacement Posted by Rod [Email] (#3128) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Rod) on Tue, 19 Jun 2007 09:13:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I can't seem to repair the original Clarion unit in my wife's 1992 900TC (as posted earlier, it won't take the code). I got in touch with Wasyl at Saabradio but it sounds like this could run me several hundred dollars to fix, which doesn't seem worth it for a 15 year old system.
Two issues. One is I started browsing through the headunits at Crutchfield and they all look hideous (IMHO). Does anybody know of a unit that does not light up like a Christmas tree and will blend nicely with the (admittedly old-fashioned) interior of a 1992 900?
Second is that I currently have the Clarion DC-625 CD changer in the trunk, which uses a C-bus connnector. Does this only work with older Clarion models or are there any current models that use the C-bus technology? If not, it's not a big deal since I could swap the changer into my wife's 9k instead. Crutchfield has an adaptor but it's $100 - again not worth it.
Thanks
Rod
