Front Fender Rust Posted by Andy of Vermont [Email] (#702) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Andy of Vermont) on Wed, 27 Jun 2007 23:32:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've got a rust-through on my '89T, on the fender just above and behind the wheel on the passenger side. Its the only thru-rust on the car, so I want to fix it. I took it to a body guy that friends of mine recommended, who says he doesn't weld that sort of thing anymore, just uses fiberglas. What do you all think about that? Should I keep hunting for someone who will weld? He said that you can't stop rust, only slow it down, which is true of course, but I'm not sure fiberglas is the best way to slow it down.
Second question on same subject is: the black trim on the fender... it would have to come off to fix the fender. He wasn't certain it could go back on after the repair, because the metal would be thicker. Anyone figured out a good solution to this problem?
