loctite would serve no purpose, and would indeed leave the inner part of the wheel bearing stuck to the hub on the next go around.
sometimes the hub shaft dose keep the inner part of the wheel bearing attached, (destroying the old wheel bearing upon removal)
just to get this casing left from the wheel bearing off the hub shaft is one big giant pain, and this is with no loctite.
using loctite only insures the inner casing of the wheel bearing to stick to the hub shaft upon next removal &, making it next to imposable to get it off with out destroying the hub shaft in the process.
sounds like you found a good mechanic, thats only looking out for your better interests
