i had the same problem last year, i rigged up a remote starter switch from my toolbox.

it's still there, me being busy and it not being inconvenient.

for power, i plugged it into the lighter. goes off with the key.

i need to get into the console someday, but i haven't yet.

the other end of the wire just goes to the trigger terminal (the small one, yellow wire IIRC) on the starter solenoid.
