A Stayfast canvas top can be found for $300, not including the rear window assembly, or the optional cover up piece of fabric. This material is slightly thinner than the original equipment fabric, but looks like it from the outside. For the price I can afford to replace it 2x as often. Remember - the top is a wear item. The A/C you can fix as you go along, if you feel you need it. I use mine all the time in hot weather where top down motoring would be overwhelming. You might get by easy with the top mechanism because usually the fuses and relays get oxidized and make the fuse blow. I doubt anyone could use top enough to cause the motor to go bad in 120k miles.
