'93 Comm Ed Turbo:

Needed a new alternator on a drive back from the West Coast. Unfortunately Pep Boys was the only place that could do the work in the middle of nowhere, Super Bowl weekend. Fast forward a few months and I get a high idle (~1200) then stall. Replace a fuse (one in the engine bay close to the relays - forgot which one) Starts up fine. A month later (hot and humid conditions) and I get a surging idle and flashing shift up indicator then stall. It happend to be right by Saabtech in Chicago so after starting and stalling a few times it runs fine and I drop it off. After a week they figure out that the plug wires are arcing and are able to stall it by spraying them with a little water. Replace wires and it ran fine for a while. Ocasionally it will gun the engine, sometimes it will start, idle wildly, and stall. Stomping on the gas will keep it running, but it still surges. This has happened in hot weather and cold, with a warm engine that has been running fine for a week, and from cold starts. Last night there seemed to be a small difference when I reached over and pounded on the ECU. After searching for ECU, it seems that this box can cause all sorts of issues. Does this sound like the likely culprit or should I look eleswhere before replacing it?
