yeah...these are slow gearboxes...even my MGB has a faster change. Synth gear oil seems to give the best quality change across all temps...but that 1st to 2nd change on a cold morning is always the hardest...I change up as soon as the car is moving and I change gear gently all the time. I'm almost at 300K. Really awkward notchy changes are often caused by bent shift forks which you have to strip the gearbox to get at...but can be bent back to restore a good change. When they are bent, they present the synchro hubs to the cones at a slight angle so the synchro doesn't work anything like as well as normal. (The bend is subtle and hard to see)Powershifting these boxes WILL bend those shift forks...
