Exhaust Flange "Warp"

This question is relative to a 2.1 Ltr normally aspirated engine. I installed a new Starla downpipe on my '93 900S. Just to be clear this is the pipe that runs between the cast iron exhaust manifold and the cat. There are actually two flanges that mate to the cast iron manifold; one of those is warped. The flange had a small spot of weld flash on it which I removed with a file prior to installation. I have seen weld splatter before on Saab systems as well as some others and don't see that as a problem. Once installed I found a gap between the downpipe flange and the mating surface on the exhaust manifold. This gap is present with the bolts torqued to spec and is not on the same side where the splatter was. Should I return it as defective or heat it up and attempt to knock it straight on a steel buck? I have installed at least 3 Starla exhaust systems and found them all to be good quality.
