Lighting chaos - '91 convertible

The exterior lighting on my 91 900T convertible went fairly haywire recently and I'm at a loss as to where to start to troubleshoot. All was totally normal until a couple of weeks ago when it's now like this:
Brake lights are always on, but do get brighter when the brake pedal is depressed.
When ignition is off, depressing the brake pedal flashes the headlights as well as the brake lights.
If my foot is on the brake when I remove the ignition key, the engine continues to run until I remove my foot from the brake.
The reverse lights don't work.
The only thing I've done recently is replace two bulbs: the left front running light; and the left rear tail light. I since the lights all tend to work normally at night I didn't notice all the strange stuff until well after I replaced those bulbs... is it possible that something in the tailight module or front running light circuit is crossed up as a result of the replacement? Where else would a single wiring glitch cause all of this?
