Echoing and expanding on a few posts here . . . the metallics are problematic in any circumstance. Even in combination with a clearcoat metallics have to be sprayed perfectly and all at the same time as you can not correct flaws in the sprayed paint as you can with flat colours. The metallic bits settle at certain depths in the paint coat. If you wet sand (as you might with certain flat colours to correct flaws), the metallic particles can be exposed or removed giving you a blotchy uneven finish. The saving grace of the basecoat/ clearcoat setup is that you can correct for orange peel and minor flaws in the clear finish after the clearcoat is applied with wet sanding.
It strikes me that spraying the whole thing at one time gives you very little tolerance for any correction or mitigation. You pretty much have to rely on the expertise of the sprayer.
We all wait anxiously to hear about the outcome!
