I've always thought/read/been told to definitely not wax newly painted car/panels for about 1 or 2 months. I think they myth out there is that new paint needs to breathe (but I think that's a myth FYI, I'm not sure of the technical specifics or molecular reasons)... but it takes a bit of time for the surface to fully cure/harden from what I understand.
