Engine Oil leak onto P/S pump Posted by bert [Email] (#365) [Profile/Gallery]

Recently I noticed a small cloud of smoke in the engine compartment of my '91 900 S.
First I suspected the P/S pump leaking, but at closer inspection I found out that there is
actual engine oil leaking from above onto the power steering pump and than dripping down onto the headerpipe causing the smoke. This is bad, but how bad is it? Is this the sign of the headgasket failing or is the chaincover gasket going bad? Can I replace the chaincover gaskets without pulling the engine? So many questions. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks. bert
