It took me so long to finally get the whole thing back together and the car back on the road it was into warm weather and I never could tell if the seat actually worked. My best guess is, element was fine but maybe something else stopped heat from working, as I drove that car on until midwinter and could never really sense if seat was heating. It's still temporarily off the road, I don't work fast.
But I'm not really sensitive to cold seats, and maybe I could just never tell. Have never had known-good heated seats so...
I stand by my writeup as far as it goes. Easy to find breaks as you can see black, peel wire off foam and cloth, soften insulation with Bic lighter flame, strip, maybe scrape wire ends a litle bit with edge of knife blade to brighten metal, slide a bit of shrink tubing up one wire back a ways, fold wire ends and solder, slide shrink tubing over joint and heat it a bit.
I could find no other breaks and wire tested continuous with a meter when I put it back together.
