Steering Rack Boot Replacement Posted by incorvati [Email] (#477) [Profile/Gallery] (more from incorvati) on Wed, 23 Jan 2008 14:18:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Ok - Just received two new steering rack boots from site sponsor - replacing ones beginning to crack and separate on my '86 900t. A little surprised to see zip ties included for each as opposed to metal crimp bands.
Any thoughts on using the supplied zip ties? The car is pretty much a sunny-day driver at this point - if that factors into the mix - won't see any winter driving.
In doing the job - looks like I might want to loosen the two main rack bolts to help get at the inner boot clamp/tie. Any thoughts? I've pulled the tie rod ends & counted threads, but then the cold snap hit (8* this morning in NEOhio today)- I think I'll get back into the garage a little later thank you . . .
Thanks in advance,
Bob Incorvati
