I've been using AMSOIL in Saabs for over 30 years now. Most of those I changed over had about 100,000 miles on them when I first changed them over.
None have leaked, other than slight seepage (which may have already been there). If you have existing bad seals, and the leak is plugged by a buildup of sludge/varnish, then changing to synthetic (or another petroleum oil) can result in the false seal being cleaned away. If the original seal is dried out and/or cracked, you can get leakage. Original Mobil 1 did shrink some seals, but that hasn't been a problem for the past 25 years.
Despite dire warnings from Saab, I started using AMSOIL synthetic ATF in the Saab automatics when it first came out, some 20 years back. Benefits: operating temperature dropped, oxidation just about stopped, cold weather operation improvement was immediate on startup, wear appeared to have slowed to almost negligible. Fluid life was greatly increased. And this was well before AMSOIL came out with the Type F Racing ATF! As a bonus, got a bit better fuel economy.
