it seems like all classic 900's have NOx numbers on the Calif. dyno test that are close to the legal limit, but will still (barely) pass. Your HC numbers are ok. If you have to do a re-test, I would just bring it in as is, make sure it is warmed up, and give it a try... The gas cap/tank test is new (they used to just check that the cap itself would hold vacuum), now they pinch off the purge line that goes to the charcoal canister, and see if the entire tank + filler leaks. Let us know what happens!
