thanks Myles, and those in chat that tried to give me some help...
turns out that the 10mm bolt/ nut what ever used to be holding the cable to the backside of the transmission had backed out and the cable sliped out about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch , didn't find that out until I tried to tackle a "much more user unfriendly approach" of tightening a 3mm allen under the shifter that could also have left the shift in its freeky place...and not engaging any gears..... only took 2ish hours to even open that area up and locate the little bugger.. pretty elusive to say the least! anyway the single screw screwed up a good part of one evening a the better part of this morning/afternoon.. happy thats its over. Looking forward to a trouble free week.... oh crap did I just say that out loud!
