If you can't find anyone inside Saab with an interest and knowledge, you are out of luck.
The VIN is not usable to determine except for maybe the right person within Saab's walls.
I ran the VIN and compared it to my database and it is just one number in between several other 88 900 convertibles including 3 other known SiS. Two of the other SiS has 04/88 as manufacturing date and the third is unknown.
One is stick and two are autos + yours auto.
Other than that you just have to believe it is one if the color, SPG cladding and seats are the proper ones.
