Hi again RayF,
When I purchased the car I knew that the speedometer was not working but I thought it was the driven gear. When I went to replace it I found that the problem was the driver gear(in the transmission). Looking down into the transmission (through the opening where the driven gears goes in)I found small pieces of hard plastic which I assumed were broken pieces of the gear. However, if the driver gear is brass, I agree that it is very unlikley that this is the problem. Do you think that Saab may have used a plastic type gear in 1981? I would appreciate your thoughts and help on this. Thanks, Don
