The window motor went from completely non-functional to fully functional and with a bit of greasing of the winder mechanism it runs as well as new.


The motor itself is quite simple - windings and so on I mean- the motor housing is released from the gear mechanism with two simple screws- a plastic or similar material where the connection is is a firm friction fit to retain the armature etc and with a few light taps of the hammer pops out- there is a rubber grommet/dust sleeve at one end with the other end sitting in "a big pot of grease" (no bearings).

I held the brushes back with a small screwdriver tip working them in one at a time and then popped the whole thing once they were seated.

all in all a pretty simple job and if your windows don't work after looking at the switch pack, wiring and the winder mechanism I suggest looking at the motor itself.
