I don't think it's going to make a huge difference whatever you put in there. These transmissions are average in longevity, failing between maybe 120 and 200k miles on average. Not as long lasting as the engines, which last far longer than the engine on an average car.

Here's the answer from a petroleum engineer who posts on here now and then and it makes sense to me:

The newer 10W30 (API SL and SM grade, I think) oils have less ZDDP in order to better preserve catalytic converters. Gearboxes need the ZDDP that was in engine oils. Motorcycles use engine oil to lubricate their gearboxes so they still have ZDDP.

The lubrication engineer advises 10W30 or 10W40 MOTORCYCLE oils, or 75W90 gear oil. The gear oil's disadvantage, if I recall correctly, is that it doesn't withstand as much heat as engine oil and this engine, sitting on top of the gearbox and using the gearbox housing as its sump, heats up the transmission oil. One of these days I'm going to get a laser thermometer and test this against my transverse FWD cars.
