driving with failed brake booster

does anyone know if the brake pedal and all its attached pins and links in the passenger compartment , will wear to the point of possible failure from months of driving with a failed brake booster ? its been about 9 months and I want to know if I should look into replacing some of these components when I replace the booster . the brakes grab just as hard as normal , but I have to apply a lot more force to the pedal , hence the questions about wear . the car is an 88 spg . I know it might sound irresponsible to drive this way , but I hurt my back a few months ago before I could get to this job and I know the mechanic will charge me around $500 . there are other jobs I can't do and have to pay for so I can't let the jobs I can handle drain my money .
