I'll keep my introduction brief -- mostly because there's a real question I have to ask.

About a year ago I found a beautiful '88 900 turbo convertible with only 100K miles on it. The thing had been sitting nearly idle and rotting away in a garage. 1k worth of work (tires, brakes, new exhaust/Cat, a few bulbs, switches, etc) and it was running like a champ.

Now -- a year and 15K miles later it was starting to show its age. The qoute from the local independent Saab/Volvo mechanic for all the fixes was nearly 4k.

I wrestled with the idea of selling it but decided just to do the work myself.

3 weekends later I had the clutch kit done, a new master clutch cyl, two new calipers, rotors, brake cyl, and new power steering lines -- all for about 1/5th of the cost.

The biggest pain in the whole process was all the turbo air hosing above the clutch area.

When I got everything back together yesterday I started it up and the engine was running hella-rough. Heck -- it wouldn't even start.

At first I thought I missed a vac line or had cracked/torn one of the air hoses during the process. I went over every square inch of the work I did and couldn't find anything amiss... It seemed like the timing was way off or the Timing advance system was fried.

After a couple of frustrating hours of questioning my work I looked over at the distributor and rotor assembly and noticed that a plug was hanging loose. This plug goes into the side of the rotor and has exposed wires (pins) that were being grounded to the chasis.

I popped it back in and the car fired right up and ran smoothly.

Looking at this connector closely it appears to have been previously broken and held on by a wire tie. By working with the wiring harness that sits on the plastic clutch cover I must have dislodged this connector.

I'm attaching a photo of the part in question.. this image shows the side of the rotor and the plug in question. You can clearly see that some sort of alignment pin is broken off the bottom of the connector and some portion of it is missing at the top near the distributor cap.

My question is really two-fold:

First -- Is this something that I should fix? i.e. is there vacuum in this chamber? does the hole pose some sort of moisture threat?

Second -- to fix this I could just throw some RTV goop on it and add a tie wrap; but are things like this connector even available if I wanted to replace it? Or is this something I'd have to find at a junkyard?

Thanks in advance guys.

oh.. and if you want to see the car there are other pics in my gallery.
