OK, next is the clutch slave is frozen in the clutch disengaged position.
Can you start the car or failing that, can you put the car in gear and move it or start/turn over the engine? If you can the clutch slave is forced/seized and is holding the pressure plate open/clutch disengaged (won't transmit power). If the car won't move, the slave could still be locked although it's strange that it went down once and locked at the top. About all you can do is replace the slave although I guess it could be a seized pressure plate...THAT would be unusual.
when you release the pedal if the slave won't push the master back then the master just fills up with fluid from the reservoir and tries to push against a solid block.
I'm assuming you released the bleeder on the slave cylinder which should confirm this...you have an operating line to the slave but the slave won't.
