bougt a rebuilt tranny from a saaber on tsn & had a saab shop down the rd from him do the install. from day one it grinds in 1st & 5th is almost impossible to find unless you ram it in there. there was a laundry list of screw ups, the major one being they installed the wrong motor mount in the front & driver's side. wrong motors mounts are definitely the cause of hunting for 5th but could it also be causing the grinding in 1st? shop is taking responsibilty for it's share of screw ups but says i need to address the first gear grinding issue w/ seller of tranny cuz in his opinion it's a bad 1st gear synchro that's causing the grinding. it sounded convincing at first until i discovered the motor mount screw up. so my question is should the rebuilder have caught the bad 1st gear synchro during his rebuild??? he claims to have replaced 2nd gear & shift fork & that everything else looked to be in excellent condition. and what effect does the mount screw up have on the car? shoudl i even drive it in its current state. thanks in advance for your input.
