When the master cylinder fails it lets the pedal go down without moving the fluid and thus the clutch doesn't release or doesn't release all the way. Sometimes it lets fluid pass all the way out the pushrod and if so you might see a wet-looking streak down the carpet behind the pedal. But it might not be losing any.

If there's really fluid visible up front (are you sure it's clutch (brake) fluid and not motor oil?), make sure the bleed screw and the flare nut holding the line to the clutch slave are set down tight.
