OK here goes:
Wheels- I have the aeros on one of my SPGs (with stock SPG suspension) and have no problems with rubbing.
Ecodes- don't know about wiring but I have both ecodes (i'm in Canada) and DOT lights on my cars and can't really tell the difference between them- maybe that's just because both kinds of lights are now 20 years old.
Plugs- don't bother with the iridiums or any other "premium" plugs. Just get the good old NGK's as recommended by everyone on this board. Do a search for spark plugs to get the correct set for your car. Also, you will need to properly gap them before putting them in.
Oil- 10w30 from any big name is fine. Just change it regularly. Don't know about the running problems but changing the oil can lead to broken or dislodged vacuum lines in the oil fitler area (if you changed that as well)
Oil leak- the oil cooler lines can indeed leak on high mileage cars. you can simply rebuild the existing ones by reusing the fittings and changing the rubber lines. Lots of info on how to do this on this board.
Trans oil- i also use regular 10w30 here as well. If the transmission shifts fine there is no need for additives- c900 transmissions are always pretty notchy in my experience
Clutch- low engagement could be a worn bushing in the pedal or air in the clutch lines. Bleed the clutch (probably needs it anyway) and take a look at the pivot point for the pedal. Lots if info on how to fix the pedal problem on this board.
Cleaner- Don't bother. Cleans your wallet better than it cleans your fuel system. Just use the good quality gas.
Seats- the whole 9000 seats will fit your car only if your 89 is a US car with automatic seat belts. You seem to indicate that your car has regular seat belts in which case they probably won't fit as a direct bolt-in. I don't think the skins will fit either. Other saabnetters can correct me here but i think that the actual seat shape is somewhat different on the 9000 seats and the later 900 units.
Good questions!
