Coolant or oil smoke, skipping '90 SPG....(long)

Hi, I've got a '90 SPG, 180,000 miles. Don't know any history (owned since 2002). Always ran flawlessly until this spring. Several problems have been fixed by a trusted indy who has worked on C900's for many years, once in a while a NG900/9-3/9-5. These problems remain:
1. Usually runs on 2 or 3 cylinders upon start up, for 10-30 seconds, and fixes itself. Cold or warm, shut off overnight, or 5 minutes ago.
2. Usually smokes (A LOT!) when it is restarted after it's warm. Smoke is whitish, doesn't smell like coolant (sweet) to me. For 20-40 seconds. A real cloud! The smoke goes away, and all is fine til it's shut off again.
3. Idle hunts 600-1200-600 rpm for 1-2 minutes, and seems to usually settle in at about 1,000 rpm.
-Checked plugs warm when this started, they were nice medium tan. Maybe check them again?
-Doesn't use any oil. Has a couple leaks, just a few drops - no puddles. No coolant in the oil.
-Doesn't use any coolant. No oil in the coolant.
-Hasn't overheated since I've owned it, runs about 1/3 into green consistantly.
-Runs as it should, boosts up to red area.
-New NTC Sensor, Temp. Sensor (82 deg), O2 sensor, NGK plugs, Bougicord plug wires, Bosch rotor & cap, and AIC.
Pretty desperate, no real diagnosis. Get head gasket replaced to fix or eliminate that? Replace turbo, to fix or eliminate that? Any ideas & suggestions? Thanks!
