Could this be a bad rear wheel bearing? Posted by dave24 [Email] [Profile/Gallery]

I agian need the collective advice of this forum.. please. After sitting for 2 weeks while away on vacation, I fired up the 86 base sedan for the commute to work. It immediately began with a new sound - kind of a wop, wop, wop sound. Turned around and swapped for the Aero instead. This evening, walking along side while son drove slowly, I isolated it to the rear passenger wheel.
The sound increases with speed. It is not effected by applying the brakes. Thinking I maybe have a bad tire, jacked up the rear and turned the passenger side tire by hand - same sound -ruling out a bad tire.
It seems like a bad spot on the wheel bearing. Does this seem like an accurate diagnosis? Anything else it might be?
Thanks, Dave
