The A pillar is held in with welds.
The plastic foam that covers the portion of the A pillar between the windshield and the front door is secured with two-piece plastic clips, quantity three.
A junkyard car could be very helpful here. Those parts (at least outside of the cell-phone-abused ones) are plentiful and rarely break. Just pull out the center part of the clip about half an inch, then pull the outer part of the clip out and the foamer should slide away from the headliner and pull out of the area next to the dashboard corner.
It's also possible to keep someone with a 'Parts For Sale' ad here on TSN in business. The part was the same for all 900 2/3/4/5-door cars except for the convertible.
