Cliff--- an interesting question(!). I have Mackay replacements hoses 7541527 and 7545544, the heater core top (one with the y-split that has a smaller diameter hose) has a 5mm wall thickness. The lower hose is a bit thinner, at 4 mm. Both have been in place for 3 years, no problems with bulging on either. I have a Mackay upper rad hose and a Saab OEM one in front of me, p/n 7546179, and both have identical wall thickness of 5 mm. The shorter upper rad hose, 7546161, from Mackay is thinner, 4 mm, while the Saab OEM is 5 mm. I have the Saab OEM uppers installed, so I can't say if 4mm wall thickness on the upper rad will cause a problem. But it's only 6 inches long total, so I doubt it would be an issue...
